Hello Girls
Episode 1: The Wonderbra, Episode 6: The Sports Bra
I was interviewed for this podcast series in 2023, where fashion journalists Emily Cronin and Kate Finnigan discuss women’s lingerie, and I appear in a couple of the episodes talking about aspects of the history of the bra. “Emily and Kate lay the world of women’s underwear bare. Every week they hear real-life stories and insight from expert guests including fashion historians, psychologists, and the people behind some of the most innovative developments in the world of underwear. That’s Hello Girls – because underwear is the foundation of a good conversation.”
Betwixt the Sheets: The History of Sex, Scandal and Society
Episode 26: Bras
In this podcast series from History Hit, historian Kate Lister roots around the topics which seem to have been skipped in history class. Kate interviewed me, to discuss the history of the bra, in July 2022.

The History of the Bra: A fuller cup
A video recorded for The Pool
In 2017 I was contacted by Amy Jones, video content producer for (sadly now defunct) magazine website The Pool, asking if I’d like to record a piece on the history of the bra. This is the longer version, hence the title ‘a fuller cup‘.
The Underpinnings Museum
Founded in late 2016 by a team of lingerie lovers, the museum is an ongoing project, constantly updating and expanding its collections. Beginning by documenting the extensive vintage collection of a founding member (dating as far back as the 1700s, all the way to the modern day), the project will add crucial historical pieces to the archive and explore contemporary design controversies.
Check out our exhibitions on a variety of lingerie-related subjects from bras to boudoir caps, corsets to the colour red.
The Allusionist: A Podcast About Language
Episode 2: Bosom Holder
Back in 2014, award winning podcaster Helen Zaltzman contacted me about her fascinating new project, a podcast exploring the English language. We met in central London for a chat and our discussion about bras became episode 2 of The Allusionist in January 2015.
