Somewhat surprisingly, 2021 has been a year of photoshoots for me. It all started back in February when I booked a Valentine’s webcam shoot with Emerald Photography and had lots of fun swishing around in the corner of my home office wearing a vintage robe and red lace lingerie. Debbie was such fun to work with that I just knew I had to book an in-person shoot with her as soon as it became possible. I had a long weekend to Edinburgh planned for the beginning of July and, when my original plans for the trip fell through, I contacted her to see if she was free that weekend. It wasn’t long before we were picking a location – No.11 Brunswick Street – and choosing make-up inspiration.
On the day, I arrived at the hotel to find Debbie and Courtney, my HMUA for the morning, setting up in in a large room with comfy chairs and huge mirrors. We chatted about all sorts of things as I was slowly transformed from flustered bare-faced Lori into a wannabe Cruella de Vil, and was then ushered into the most plush hotel room I have ever had the pleasure of lounging around in. Seriously, the four-poster bed, huge golden framed mirrors, crushed velvet chairs, and massive window were all utterly stunning… it’s just a shame we didn’t have time to shoot anything in the gorgeous tub in the bathroom! To begin with, I got changed into my ‘Ginger’ lingerie set from Miss Vivienne and we set about taking advantage of the wonderful light.
Debbie guided me through some glamorous poses, making sure that I was comfortable as well as making pretty shapes for her camera, and it was so easy to completely trust her with this as every boudoir shot I’ve seen of hers has been utterly stunning. She really knows how to put women and non-binary femmes completely at ease, so that you can showcase the best version of yourself. We started on the super comfy chaise longue before doing a few shots over by that beautiful window to make the most of the light. After this little warm up, we upped the glamour levels and I got changed into my Harlow & Fox ‘Andromeda’ set, with stockings from What Katie Did and heels from good old M&S.
The whole experience was wonderful, even before I got these stunning edited shots back from Debbie, and I can highly recommend booking a shoot with her if you’re ever in Glasgow or Edinburgh. I’d love to book an autumnal outdoor shoot with her next year… or maybe I should just tempt her down to London instead?
