Five fab spring dresses with POCKETS

Everyone who wears dresses prefers one with pockets, right? Even if you carry a handbag most of the time it’s always nice to have the option of keeping your phone/money/keys close at hand, but plenty of designers and manufacturers overlook this useful feature. It may be more expensive to produce womenswear with pockets, but I don’t think I know anyone who wears dresses that wouldn’t be willing to pay a bit more for one with pockets. So, here’s a selection of practical frocks for spring, all under £70.

1) Louche ‘Celeste’ Denim Dress
This crossover-back denim pinafore dress would look great over a fitted white t-shirt, or on its own if you don’t need a bra (or have found the perfect low-backed strapless solution!). It’s ideal for spring and summer, but the denim fabric means it could be worn all year round over a roll neck and opaque tights.

Love UR Look 'parrot' print dress2) Love ur Look toucan print dress
If you’ve been looking to get in on the green dress trend – which I’m loving, after spending years looking for frocks that are a decent green, rather than lime or khaki – this gorgeous tropical print dress has got you covered (see image on the right). Not only is it ethically made out of a lovely cotton that doesn’t need ironing ever five minutes in order to look good, but it also has two big pockets on the outside of the skirt. In fact, most of the Love ur Look clothing has pockets, so check out the rest of the dresses if this one isn’t your style.

3) ‘Brette’ striped swing dress by Collectif
This smart summer dress pushes all my nautical buttons (and it actually has nautical buttons!). The Brette dress is part of Collectif’s vintage range which, to me, is a sign of a good quality vintage-inspired garment that can be dressed up to give a proper retro look, if required. Check out the rest of the collection for a few more pocketed options.

Sophie's Soho dress, by Alice's Pig4) Sophie’s Soho by Alice’s Pig
This lovely casual dress comes in two colours – grey blue and bright red (see image on the left and at the top of this post). The topstitching looks great down the front and on the tie belt, and it looks fantastic styled with white casual shoes.

5) Pure cotton checked maxi dress from M&S
OK, so this lovely cool cotton dress only has a breast pocket, which isn’t amazingly useful. Good to pop your debit card in on the way back from the bar when your hands are full with a couple of refreshing G&Ts for you and a friend, but otherwise not that helpful. Unless you style it with jeans, as M&S have done in their product images, and then you have plenty of pockets!
