I’ve lost count of the number of friends with whom I talk about RuPaul’s Drag Race. It’s the ultimate reality show for anyone with even a passing interest in glamour. Seriously though, if you’re not watching season 9 on Netflix, what are you watching? Come for the fierce make up, sky high wigs, glorious gowns and lip syncing, stay for the dry humour, Ru’s surprise twists and the shade. If you want to show your allegiance to the show, this month’s Lust List is definitely for you.
1) Lou Taylor’s RuPaul brooch
Of course, the first item on my list had to pay homage to the mother of Drag Race, RuPaul herself. This stunning brooch has gold glitter hair, purple glitter eyeshadow, pink mirror lips and green Swarovski earrings. She’s a total glamazon! Shantay you stay.
2) Alaska’s Lil’ Poundcake doll
As far as official merch goes, Alaska’s doll of her epic creation from season 5 is truly a piece of Drag Race herstory. This eccentric little beauty even has middle-finger enabled hand joints. I’m just gutted that these babies have sold out already!
3) Kate Rowland’s Bianca Del Rio Brooch / Necklace
Bianca is still my all time favourite Drag Race queen (such a shady bitch!) and Kate Rowland has captured her sass perfectly in this laser cut piece, complete with mirrored amber earrings, which is available as a brooch or a necklace.
4) Reginald Spleen’s RuPaul Drag Race Drinking Game
This drinking game board and glasses from Reginald Spleen (aka Mr Retro Chick) looks like it would be the death of me. If the academic focus group that I’m going to be a part of does get together to watch Drag Race together, we’d probably have to save this for the final episode we watch or we’d not get anything done!
5) Kate Rowland’s Katya Zamolodchikova brooch / necklace
I’ve just finished watching All Stars season 2 (I know, I’m so behind the times!) and so this fantastic likeness of Katya caught my eye. The laser cut piece, like Bianca, is available as either a brooch or a necklace.
