Having just signed up to do even more pointe classes – because I want to wear those shoes again and I’m determined to improve this year! – I thought that some of you lovely people might also be keen to start the year by getting your body moving in an encouraging and inclusive environment.
If you don’t feel comfortable with the idea of attending a mainstream dance studio, dancefloor or stage dreams can get pushed aside once you become an adult. However, you really don’t have to let being a misfit stop you from learning to dance. I did it, and so can you! Whether you want to realise your dreams of tapping like Fred Astaire, perfecting a Paso Doble worthy of the Strictly final, or dream of being Misty Copeland (well, we can all dream), I firmly believe there is no better place than at Irreverent Dance.
The timetable is full of fun short courses starting next week at their studio in Kentish Town, including beginners sessions in tap, ballroom, Charleston and even contact improvisation! If that’s not enough to tempt you, here’s a fantastic video of some highlights from last year’s showcase performance. Hope to see you in class soon!
