Review: Mia, by Playful Promises

Mia kimono print lingerie by Playful PromisesLast week I shared a post about Playful Promises’ development of their larger cup sizes, and I mentioned that I had been sent two sets to review. The first of these is the super pretty Mia Kimono Pint Bra and brief with detachable suspenders. A stylish addition to any lingerie drawer, I think you’ll agree.

The satin fabric on this set is super soft and, a you can see from the photo on the right, the print has stunning colours which look great against the black trim. The top panel of the bra is made from stretch mesh which sits comfortably across the bust without digging in, and matches the back of the bra and the briefs. The sides have boning to keep the bra smooth and flat against your body, and the cups have a light padding all over to give a lovely full rounded shape. The straps have a cute ribbon detail and are made from comfortably wide elastic, but my favourite feature is that they are adjustable along the majority of their length. As someone with a short body, it’s really annoying when straps are only adjustable by a small amount as that often means they’re still too long for me. Sadly, this also means I got a bit too carried away when I was adjusting Mia’s straps and so they look like they are too tight in the photo below. Rest assured, this is entirely my own fault and has since been rectified! If only all bra straps were this good.

Actually, that’s pretty rare in general these days. My belly loves big pants these days, so you don’t get to see a photo of my squishy bits in these low-rise beauties, but they fit beautifully in the XL (UK 16) so there’s no need to size up as I’ve needed to do with some briefs (I’m looking at you, Curvy Kate!). Based on the bra sizes I tried before in the Lily, and the tweaks they’ve made to the fit since, Playful Promises sent me a 32F and a 34F to try and the 34F was ideal. The wires sat perfectly flat in the centre and didn’t press on breast tissue at the sides, and there was no overspill on the cup. I’m mostly a 32F in the bras I’ve bought most recently (Freya and Triumph), but sometimes a 32 back is too tight these days so the 34F is not an unexpected perfect fit. A good friend tried the 32F (having recently purchased that size from Panache) and was completely smitten, so that’s four very enthusiastic thumbs up for Mia and her asset enhancing prettiness.

DISCLOSURE: I was sent a Mia bra and briefs free to review by Playful Promises.
