Style with Ethics: Love ur Look

I first discovered Love ur Look via a Retro Chick blog post back in 2012 and I’ve seen their styles crop up on her other blog too, We Want All The Dresses. Like Gemma, I’m not a fan of text speak so the name didn’t really appeal to me and I’d not paid Love ur Look all that much attention. I knew they produced affordable vintage inspired clothes, but I’d never been tempted to look further. This, I have since discovered, was a huge mistake! What I didn’t know was the story behind the brand, so I shall share a bit of that with you now.

Ronke Fashola, founder of Love ur LookThe super glamorous Ronke Fashola is the brains behind Love ur Look and, not only does she have an eye for a good style and exactly the sort of business brain you need to succeed in the industry, but she firmly believes in ethical and sustainable fashion too. After obtaining her BA (Hons) Fashion Management & Buying at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London, Ronke went on to work as a buyer for well-known brands for several years. Using this knowledge and experience, plus capital from her first project (Stylizers, stylists and style consultancy), Ronke decided to turn her love of vintage fashion into her very own label. Her aim is to show each customer how to ‘Love ur Look’ with feminine, flattering, unique, ethical and affordable clothing. All the collections are ethically made in the UK and India, using upcycled fabrics and trims (e.g. surplus stock or production off-cuts) and, like Katie from What Katie Did, Ronke visits the factories in India so she knows that they meet her exacting requirements.

If you’re as keen as I am to check out some of the Love ur Look dresses and skirts, you’d better hop on over to their website now as there’s a January sale on! The 2015 collection is on it’s way and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store. In the meantime, you can keep in touch with the Love ur Look team on Facebook and Twitter.
