It has been said that a change is as good as a rest. However, sometimes that’s utter rubbish when there’s no getting away from the fact that a rest is exactly what’s needed. Occasionally, it gets to a point where life as you know it is just too much, and so putting your feet up in whichever way you can in order to forget about the stress becomes the most important thing for your health and wellbeing. My life reached that point a few months ago. Luckily I had a holiday planned and so all I had to do was wait until the time came for me to jet off and forget my woes for a couple of weeks. But what do you do when you have no holiday plans?
Well, if you have enough money to do so, book a holiday to anywhere you can. I never used to understand the lure of a trip to somewhere where all you have planned is eating, reading and lying in the sun, but now I can most definitely see the allure! Stress could make even the most unlikely sunbather yearn for a week lying by a pool. If cash is a problem, remember that taking time off from the daily grind is what’s needed, not necessarily a trip overseas. Getting away from your usual life is the key, so why not see if anyone you know needs a house sitter? Or a pet sitter? You could travel round the country visiting friends and/or family, or borrow a tent and simply find a quiet spot to pitch it. If you can’t even afford to do that, why not take the time off work and just hide at home? You could spend the time you’d usually spend packing to do all the odd jobs you’d been planning on doing around the house, tell people that you’re going somewhere without an internet connection, and then stock up on food, drink and books so that you can really put your feet up. Even planning it would be relaxing.
Now that my holiday is over, I’m hoping to find some more time for blogging. Right now though, I’m looking to enjoy a bit more relaxation time in the evenings in order to avoid the stress levels scaling the heights of earlier this year. How do you avoid stress, and do you think that a change is as good as a rest? I’d love to hear from you.
