Review: Whistle & Wolf blossom dress

Whistle & Wolf blossom print peplum dressAfter I wrote about some beautiful dresses that make me wish for spring earlier this month, the lovely people at Whistle & Wolf very kindly offered to send me the stunning blossom print peplum dress that had caught my eye. With a stretch fabric that will ensure a good fit across my hips, a super flattering shape and that utterly gorgeous print, how could I say no?

It arrived quickly and was wrapped in tissue paper, tied with Whistle & Wolf branded ribbon. This may only seem like a minor detail but, when you’ve been drooling over gorgeous images on a website, having your prized purchase arrive in nothing but the plastic it was wrapped in at the warehouse is always rather disappointing. Good clothing boutiques wrap your purchases before popping them in a bag for you to take away, so this just adds to the feeling that Whistle & Wolf care that you’ve bought from them. It also means you get to unwrap your purchase like it’s a birthday present, which is never a bad thing!

Whistle & Wolf blossom print peplum dressI am happy to report that the blossom print peplum dress is just as gorgeous in person as it is in the photos on their website. The satin fabric is a lovely weight and has just the right amount of stretch to provide a good fit without clinging. It also doesn’t seem to crush, which is a nice bonus. The concealed zip wasn’t quite long enough for me to be able to step into the size 16 and pull it up over my hips, but that is the case with most modern frocks so I’m used to putting dresses on over my head now. Once on though, it had all the wow factor I was hoping for. You’ll have to excuse my scary eyes in the photo on the left (I think I was concentrating too hard on the dress and not my face!), but I think you’ll agree that the dress looks pretty damn brilliant. It’s feminine without being too girly, and really is a ‘throw it on for instant glamour’ kind of a dress.

I am hoping to be able to wear this to a party soon, as I doubt I’ll be able to pull it off as an everyday frock until the weather cheers up a bit, but it’ll be perfect with some heels and a cocktail or two until then. However, if I discover a cardigan that I can wear it with, there will definitely be a blossom print Instagram selfie or two arriving before spring does!

DISCLOSURE: I was sent a blossom print peplum dress free for review by Whistle & Wolf.
