This Monday evening we’re giving the traditional festive dinner party a makeover at ‘Renaissance‘, a 51 Degrees event in London Bridge.
51 Degrees is a series of events put on by food-geeks, for food-geeks. Having worked in the hospitality and catering industry, three of us decided to band together and create something a bit less formal than a networking event, and a bit more dynamic than a supper club. The result is an evening of taster courses and drink pairings showcasing some of the best cooking talent in London, each event with a different culinary theme.
This time around, we’re doing old-school favourites and dinner party classics that have been revamped and reimagined. Think: Prawn Cocktail as you’ve never experienced it before; Scotch Eggs made from the finest smoked pulled pork; and Bread & Dripping transformed from wartime sustenance into a gourmet canapé. The evening’s menu will be rounded off with Gin cocktails to die for by local specialists 214 Bermondsey. They’ll be serving Peckham-distilled gins with their signature homemade Tonic, as well as the “Corpse Reviver #2” cocktail – Lillet Blanc, Gin, Cointreau and lemon juice finished with a wash of Absinthe. “Four of these taken in quick succession will quickly revive the corpse again”, said famous mixologist Harry Craddock in the Savoy Cocktail book. Better book the Tuesday morning off work, then…
‘Renaissance’ takes place on Monday 9th December at the Rooftop Café, London Bridge. For more information and to book your place, visit: renaissance51degrees.eventbrite.co.uk
