In my search for new writers – to ensure that Rarely Wears Lipstick doesn’t turn into a lingerie blog – I came across a fantastic suggestion for a new feature: Ask a Feminist. Of course it’s been done before elsewhere, but I thought the readers of this site might have some interesting questions and so reckoned it was an idea worth revisiting here. When I asked on Twitter, I received the following suggestions:
- What to do when male clients are ignoring you in a meeting.
- How to handle street harassment.
- How do we convince a wider demographic of young women that feminism is a real, continuing thing and not The Past?
- Are discussions regarding the “re-branding” of feminism ever helpful?
Do you have any other questions that you’d like to ask of a helpful feminist? (It might be me, or it might be another new columnist.) If you have any, please leave them in the comments section below. As always, I am also open to suggestions for topics for the Rarely Wears Lipstick Feminism Friday series, so please do get in touch if you have an idea for a guest post.
Does the label ‘feminist’ risk dividing rather than uniting?
