Review: Tempt Me by Curvy Kate

Ever since I learned how bras should actually fit (see Fuller Figure Fuller Bust’s Facebook page for a helpful video), I have been on the look out for pretty bras in larger sizes. More specifically, pretty bras with some sort of moulding or light padding in order to ‘balance me out’ – helping me look like I have an hourglass rather than a pear shaped figure. There are so many more pretty bras available in D+ cup sizes than there used to be, but most of them have no padding whatsoever. They look wonderful when I look in the changing room mirror, but when I put my top back on it’s a different story altogether. It’s like my boobs disappear! I have been on the look out for padded/moulded bras in my favourite plunge style so, when Curvy Kate offered to send me a set to review, I couldn’t resist the deliciously named and lightly padded ‘Tempt Me’ plunge bra. I requested the bra in my usual size of 32E, and the shorts (they also produce a matching thong and high waisted briefs) in a size 16.

Now it has arrived, I can confirm that it certainly has the wow factor! The bra is made from a very silky polyester satin, a mesh overlay with soft embroidery, and powermesh back band. The photograph above was taken in natural light and so gives a better idea of the true colours. I love the design of the embroidery and the button detailing, plus it’s great that they haven’t made the straps fussy as it means they sit flat and are very comfortable. The straps are also fully adjustable – great if you’re shorter or taller than average – and the cups have soft light padding all over. I found the plunge shape very flattering on me, and the band is firm enough to give good support while not being so tight that I can’t breathe. Overall, the fit was great. The shorts are made from the same silky polyester satin and soft embroidered mesh, with a sheer back and four detachable suspender straps. They were a nice comfortable fit, but the low rise style wasn’t very compatible with my squishy midriff and so the elastic on the top dug in slightly, giving a bit of muffin top. Unless your curves are firm and gym toned, I’d recommend going a size up in the shorts. I tried them on over the the top of other briefs so I’m hoping to be able to exchange them for the correct size, or even the high waisted style which would probably be more flattering on me. If I get another pair, I shall make sure I share a photo of the full set on.

Curvy Kate is definitely a brand I will be adding to my list of favourites. I think this set is great value for money as it is comfortable and smooth enough to be worn every day, but also pretty enough for special occasions. I tried it on under dresses with plunging necklines and smooth fitting t-shirts and it gives a very pleasing effect indeed. The Curvy Kate Tempt Me bra (£29) and briefs (£15), in raspberry and charcoal, are available from Very.co.uk.

DISCLOSURE: I was sent a Tempt Me bra and shorts, free to review by Curvy Kate.

  1. I do hate that underwear seem to fit so terribly for those of us with more to share than others. I look a lot smoother without undies – but going without them doesn’t work for most occasions. I found that the “cheeky” style seems to fit better than the hipster or bikini…it’s sort of a combination of the two.

  2. Oh, I have this one in champagne and black, but the raspberry is gorgeous! And it fits you so well! I love the buttons – makes a change from the usual bow. I also love that they do specialist bras, but with a variety of knickers. I get annoyed when I love the bra, but it only comes with unflattering briefs or a thong, which I hate.

  3. I like having a variety of knicker styles with each bra too. It makes such a difference! I have decided not to buy some lovely pretty bras because the co-ordinating pants look really unflattering on me. Clearly Curvy Kate understand this!
