As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Playful Promises have now revealed a limited edition collection of three lines designed by competition winners. The collection includes flattering high waist briefs, a retro soft-cup bra, a push-up bra and a longline bra all in dulcet pink tones with oriental influences. Each bra is available in 32A to 36DD (prices from £30), and the briefs come in XS to XL (prices from £15). The sets will be available to buy at playfulpromises.com and in the Playful Promises Boxpark boutique in Shoreditch, from May 2013. I can’t wait to try them on!
Winners Eva Lai, Carli Pullinger and Pippa Davidson have all witnessed the transformation of their design work from paper to product. I’m featuring all three designers on this blog, and today’s post is all about Pippa Davidson. Pippa was inspired by the fusion of eastern design and western beauty. Her energetic, contemporary purple and pink print was juxtaposed with a retro style bra and brief set. In anticipation of the launch, I asked Pippa a few questions about her design work and plans for the future.
Lori: What made you want to enter the Playful Promises design competition?
Pippa: I chose to enter the competition as the brief was unique and it seemed like an interesting project to be a part of. I have also been a long time fan of Playful Promises and their retro inspired lingerie look. I feel they manage to make a strong fashion image whilst maintaining the attractive retro shape and classy feel.
Lori: Where are you studying fashion design, and what do you enjoy most about the course?
Pippa: I study Fashion Contour at London College of Fashion and am currently on a placement year with Aura, a lovely lingerie supplier/manufacturer based in west London. I love the course as we are pushed to be innovative designers but have strong focus on technical skills which are important for the future of the lingerie industry.
Lori: What are your plans for the future?
Pippa: I am going back to my final year at university in September to make a final collection. At the moment I am putting all my energy into making that collection a success and am hoping the rest will be decided in time!
