The A-to-Z of Sex Toys: USB

With the help of the lovely ladies at Lovehoney, I have begun to discover that there is a sex toy for every bit of fun you can think of, and a whole load more that you can’t. Each week I shall look at a different category of sex toys but, like my last A-to-Z, they won’t always be quite what you think. As you might imagine, all links are NSFW!

As anyone who is a fan of sex toys will know, batteries can be an expensive frustration. Rechargeable toys were a fantastic development, as long as the charger wasn’t too bulky for travelling and you could actually find a socket for the thing! Well, these days, everyone seems to have at least one gadget that recharges via USB, so it was only a matter of time before vibrators went the same way. As well as the classic Lelo Mia vibrator (which I’m sure I’ve probably mentioned to you all at least once!), there are now quite a few other toys that recharge from a USB connection. At roughly the same price point, there’s the B Swish Bbold and the A-Moore massager.

For another £20 you could make dancing even more enjoyable than it already is by getting yourself a pair of OhMiBod Club Vibe Music Activated Vibrating Knickers. Yes, you read that right, music activated vibrating knickers! There are no reviews on this one yet so, if you get one of these, do let me know if it’s as much fun as it sounds. Also intriguing is the Sinfive Grace with its ‘realistic proportions’.

If you want to really treat yourself, there are a few USB rechargeable vibrators that come in at over £100. The Thrill by We-Vibe looks like some kind of sex exercise weight, but it’s actually a pretty clever vibe and you can charge it from your laptop too. The Crave Duet is a beautiful luxury vibe that, like the Mia, plugs directly into a USB port without the need for cables. It even comes in a 8GB and 16GB gold plated Lux versions, so you can store some filthy secrets on it too. Definitely a multi-purpose tool!

  1. I don’t use toys that require batteries or recharging much – or ever, actually – BUT, I love this idea. Recharging your sex toys via USB has to be the most delightfully geeky thing ever.

Also, despite not being a fan of vibrations, I did own the OhMiBod iPod vibrator, and it was so fun just finding the music that works best with it – as it turns out, heavy metal – that I wore it out. So I can only imagine how much fun the knickers must be!

  2. This puts a whole new twist on ‘plug n’ play’
I am genuinely curious to see over the next few years how far we will be going into allowing tech into our bedrooms. I wonder if for long distance relationships computer controlled toys will be developed and tried out.
