If you’re interested in fashion, street-style, vintage homewares, kitsch crafts and/or community development projects (especially if you like to write and/or tweet about it), ShopAgeUK (Re)Launch wants to hear from you! Age UK’s charity shop in Shepherd’s Bush is changing. The new ‘Community Shop’ seeks to break away from the badly merchandised charity shops of old and create a new welcoming space; part inter-generational social hub, part fashion bazaar!
At their exciting launch event on Tuesday 11th December (6:30-9pm), there will plenty of interesting activities on offer from 7:30pm. There’ll be makeovers, personal shopping experiences, a fashion show, a craft circle, a pop-up photo-booth and there’s still even more that’s yet to be announced.
Age UK is a registered charity working to improve later life for everyone. They provide services and vital support towards a vision of society where older people flourish. There are many ways you can support them – from volunteering through to donating – but they are hoping to make their shop in Shepherd’s Bush the simplest way to make a huge difference to older people’s quality of life.
“It seems to us that it’s only right that the resurgence of vintage clothing is used to benefit the men and women who originally bought and loved those clothes – and looked after them so well! Age UK does fantastic work fighting to ensure we will all have autonomy and respect in our later years and this is a wonderful way to support and celebrate that” – Amanda Jones, Age UK.
They are looking for: people with an eye for fashion styling who are willing to provide a personal shopping service and pick out clothes for some of the guests; a trained MUA willing to do make-overs; plus they are keen for fashion students to design something for the evening’s catwalk show. If you’re interested in helping out in any way at all, email email@example.com for more information.
