Triumph Inspiration Award UK winner

My attention was grabbed today by the news that the UK winner of the Triumph Inspiration Award 2012 has been announced and, as usual, it looks like there might be some names in the finalists that are worth remembering. De Montfort University student Sian Whitefoot won first prize for her design Ecliptic Renewal (see photo), with second place going to London College of Fashion‘s Charley Bishop. Trade bible Lingerie Buyer reported that:

“Sian interpreted the ‘Dragons and Butterflies’ theme for this year’s awards in delicate white creation inspired by the ‘cycle of metamorphosis’ as an egg becomes a butterfly. Translucent sheer fabrics were layered over tiered hip panels embellished with beading, with a flash of colour in the waist band adding the final detail. The judges were impressed not only with the aesthetics and the strength of Sian’s concept, but also the techniques and structure of her design. Sian’s design also won the public vote.”

It’s a truly stunning design that I’d love to get my hands on. In fact, I could see Miss Polly Rae wearing this as part of her next Hurly Burly show! Good luck to Sian in the global final, which is taking place in Shanghai this October. I hope we’ll be able to see some of her designs for sale soon.
